A while back, Laetia contacted me & told me that she wanted me to shoot a Trash The Dress (TTD) for her & her hubby. She had gotten married sometime in April and since she I did not shoot her wedding, she wanted to make up by me shooting her TTD session.
This is a growing trend as many couples for whom were not able to book me to document their wedding; can have a TTD session with me afterwards. We had a great time and shot from about 3pm till night fall…It was really awesome; check out some of my favourites from the day
Location :: The Boma Nairobi
Photography & Lighting Assistant :: Faith Mwathi
Photography :: Ben Kiruthi
The Boma interiors are amazingly done…we decided to take some images of the interior before we kicked off the shoot…we were pretty excited!
Faith & I tried to guess what the wall sculptures meant…well, our answers were diverse as well as wiered…we will keep them to ourselves for now 🙂
The architecture was breath-taking
We started off all high fashion
Lovely, lovely to say the very least
Boma has got a basement restaurant with some grass lawn just by it…Faith loved it much & suggested we take a few portraits there…she’s rarely wrong as you see 🙂
Black & white just does it for me! and Andrew & Laetia were such amazing subjects to photograph
Hahaha Laetia 🙂
We got into the restaurant and since there were no patrons as yet we decided to shoot away
Laetia is simply beautiful
Time to get a little bit creative…can someone guess how we were able to achieve this?
Any guesses as yet 🙂
It was time to take the needed drink-break after the draining 1st session….2 more sessions to go 🙂
Andrew can pass as a bar-tender so easily
We had to get Laetia up the bar counter for a shot & Andrew was kind enough to get her heels back on after lifting her up the counter
And that is the shot we were going for 🙂 totally worth all the work
The ‘Matatu’ (Minibus) menace has hit Nairobi including the posh Boma Hotel 🙂
We hit the out-doors and found some pretty traffic-lights and Andrew had to get Laetia off them before the traffic police got us!!!
Cutest water-hydrant proposal I ever did see 🙂
Andrew & Laetia wanted us to get the Urban-Architectural feel in their images….Faith & I did our best & the location did not disappoint!
Yesss…..I love me some good old reflection. You can never go wrong with it!
This is so very beautiful…I wish my marriage to be this happy, they are so so much in love
Architecture & romance have never blended so finely!!!
Boma has some old Swahili dhow that made the perfect back-drop for us…reminded us of the Mombasa Swahili Coast
And we hit the indoors once again to the main lounge area…
Aaaaaah so very lovely….I want to get married now!!! This is so beautiful
Later as dusk was falling…we decided to shoot at the rooftop and the skies were beautiful since it was very over-cast & cold
Hahahaha these two love-birds 🙂
Boma has a pool and as you know by now…I adore water. I am getting so many people asking me whether these water images are real or just my photoshop antics. Just to clear the air once & for all. The water is very real. All these couples who you see here are actually in water. So, for all those brides contacting me about a trash-the-dress session…..you’d better LOVE WATER 🙂
Such romantics 🙂
The shower was up next…just for kicks; the water was -2000 °C (I Kid you not :)) and this explains Laetia & Andrew’s reactions 🙂
Hahahaha am still laughing ….that water was freezing cold…one of the reasons I’m sticking to photography as opposed to modelling 🙂
One by one…they got into the freezing pool…night had already dawned on us…and it was time to turn the heat up just a bit
Laetia laughs at Andrew, not knowing that she is next in the pool 🙂
Andrew easily makes Laetia giggle 🙂
It was time for extra clothing to come off!!!!
And that’s it folks…it was such a wonderful trash the dress session. Laetia & Andrew were such great sports…as they realized that modelling for close to 5 hours continous is not a walk in the park, but Faith & I thank you for all your amazing energy.
Later on we shared dinner then headed home….one of the shoots…I thoroughly enjoyed doing…
Just in case you are thinking of Trashing Your Dress 🙂 we are totally game for it…send us an email & we will arrange a session for you too…
Have a blessed day, Always
Faith & Ben
