Malindi was a 1st for me. And it was nothing short of awesome. From the sweltering heat, the tuk tuk rides, the Italians, food and the more than friendly locals,it was legendary. Faith was having her end-of-semester exams at JKUAT then, so I had to shoot this wedding solo again :-(. And yes, yes I know… we missed out on the opportunity to shelf a free holiday on the beautiful sands of Malindi. If you have never visited the Coastal town, then you are missing out on one of the most romantic places Kenya has to offer.
Nyambura & Mbugua, had their dream beach wedding at the breath taking Coral Key Beach resort. You can check out the Hotel’s website here. The church ceremony was held at the hotel’s Silver Sand beach which is surrounded by a beautiful tropical garden. It was such a beautiful ceremony of just over 100 people running from about 5pm~12pm in the night. The reception was held in wonderful serene lighting by the hotel’s poolside. A dream wedding indeed…here are some snippets for y’all who missed out 🙂
We traveled overnight from Nairobi to arrive there early afternoon just in time for the rehearsals,in the blazing heat and with a backdrop of the blue expansive Indian ocean. The entire bridal team goofing around.
Next we got into the hotel as Nyambura had her make-up done…
Here she samples the various body sprays she was to wear.
The after-math of the make-up was smashing indeed! I loved it,it was natural, subtle and simple…that does it for me
Her maid of honor adjusts her veil in place
Looking dashingly-mysterious (*coined expression) behind the veil
Lights, camera & action! Nyambura enjoys her 15 minutes of fame
Next we took some portraits as she awaited to be picked up
With some of her pretty maids. The color selection was absolutely brilliant
With her maid of honour
Next we hit out for the ceremony and yes you guessed it! our convoy was a motorcade of tuk-tuks (Auto-Rickshaw) how awesome! just before this I dropped my wide lens and broke it’s ring (Grrrrrrr!!!) but thank God for my videographer Ken,who told me that there was no need to cry over spilt milk, we had a wedding to shoot!
The Italian patrons at the hotel also joined in all the fun and they were all over in their swimming trunks shooting alongside us
Nyambura is walked down the sandy isle by her parents
Mbugua muses over his soon-to-be wife 🙂
Signing of the ‘life certificate’ as I love to call it
Big crowd in attendance
The recession M.O.Gs ‘wedding day’ was in max volume
And some more getting down
For the portrait session, the sun had already set and we used some video continuous lighting to supplement my strobes
We had some good fun too
*Hush my love 🙂
The cake was really something else!! Malindi people really know how to do their cakes
This wedding was big on dancing, and there was a lot of dancing and grooving all through the night
Despite how far away we were from home, tradition had to be observed
The maid of honor gets her groove on
And Coral Key were kind enough to provide a chef with the cake 🙂 Awesome
And we ended the wonderful wedding with some more dancing…and they danced to a happy ever after…
I had a blast shooting this wedding and also for the short time I spent in Malindi. Faith & I wish Nyambura & Mbugua the happiest that life has to offer.
As always we would love to read your comments both positive & negative
Keep it Jesus always
