Finally Kate & Simon did get married…This had to be the wedding I had been waiting to shoot the whole of this year. Simon & Kate are faces y’all used to now…they are such good friends of Faith & I, and us being part of this wedding was one of our most favourite moments of the year. Simon and Kate are perhaps the most creative couple this side of the Sahara and shooting their wedding really redefined fun, love & creativity. We decided to do two parts of this wedding which we lovingly decided to name Seasons 🙂
Thus, without further ado, here is Season 1 of their wedding. Faith was one of the maids so it was a bit odd not having her by my side shooting, but all in all we had a thorough blast!!!!
Ceremony :: PCEA Kahawa Farmers
Reception :: Kiuu Kenda Farm
Photography :: Ben Kiruthi & Matt Masha (Check out his Facebook page here.)
Simon started from the bottom, way down the food chain. He was the local cart ‘Mkokoteni’ pusher of the village. Sweaty, rugged and no local girl even gave him a second look 🙂
After a while he decided to get another job with the local village metal-smiths to try and make ends meet…life was hard, he could not even afford a change of clothes
After years of working hard & saving he was finally able to afford a pair of used overalls 🙂
And finally he was rewarded with his favourite meal, Chapati by the local DJ (chapati mixer :))
On the other end, Kate was born with a silver spoon in her mouth
She slept like a princess, a sleeping beauty
Her mornings were glorious, she always woke up with a smile on her face, she loved a man, Simon and even though he was poor she knew love will surely conquer any odds
She was the social media junky and every morning just before she left her king-size 🙂 bed she updated her facebook status, tweeted and posted an image on Instagram
Then she went for her early morning work-out & jog
Laughter was plentiful at her home, life was good and every morning they each exchanged the silly Whatsapp forwards they had received with her sister Shee
And afterwards she left for work…a striking contrast to the life that Simon her beau led….
Finally, their wedding day arrived and it was time to put two souls, with different backgrounds together
Simon had really upgraded, from wearing gum-boots 7 days a week to this? 0.O!!
It was an all black day
And wollah!!!! introducing the groom of the day!!! Simon…and here he played a ballad to his sweet love Kate
He really cleans up good 🙂
The gentlemen really looking sharp
On the other hand, I was shooting the ladies & it was a wrecking ball!!!! these ladies loooooovedddd taking photos 🙂
We decided to give the chicken the privilege of seeing Kate’s gown 1st 🙂
Let’s just say the rooster gave us its stamp of approval 🙂
Kate with her cute puddy tat 🙂
This is what I call, Bridal shoe wear!!!
Loooooved their rings, definitely silver is the way to go
The girls looked absolutely lovely in their attires
Hahahaha loved this image
And the photos started
And Faith had to show-case the brown bread, the secret to becoming a brown skin 🙂
Once a photographer always a photographer even when you are a bridesmaid 🙂
These ladies had a very high affinity for cameras
The leaning tower of bridesmaids 🙂
I decided to leave them to their antics and give our beautiful bride some 5 minutes of fame too
The make-up was done so well!!! brought Kate to life
And she has the loveliest smile ever
And Kate loved what she saw in the mirror
Faith & Kavata looking looooovely!!!
Isn’t she sweet!!! my sweet angel
Loved this image much
Kate was alive with so much joy, she literally set the pace to an amazing day
The noise, beauty, joy and energy was legendary…reminded me of the champions league 🙂
Isn’t she lovely?
The ladies from Simon’s side were really excited to see the bride who was joining their side that day
The ride for the day!!!!!!!
This vehicle I heard, was once the presidential limo!!! now that is what we call ‘VVIP’
Loved this shot
Bridal party rides 🙂
And how did the guys get into church!!!! Boys will always be boys 🙂
Hmmmmm!!! good one
Simon got into church dancing all the way, relieving our days of youth; dancing for the Ignitaz
His best man Steve kept watch to ward off any screaming single ladies from grabbing the groom 🙂
And then the guys walked in, like bosses…looking dapper
And then they scanned the congregation looking for the bridesmaids who were seated amongst the flock 🙂
And each groomsman went down on one knee, near the bench where the maids had sat…truly gentlemen
And the dancing started, they were dancing to one of the favourite kikuyu tunes known as Mugithi
Faith & Jack show case
Finally the moment we had all been waiting for, as Kate walked down the aisle to a standing ovation
Simon waited for his bride, a gift in his hand for her, to be revealed later on
Simon & Steve scan the horizon threateningly just to ensure that no one stood to stop the wedding proceedings 🙂
That is Kate smile of relief 🙂
And Simon got the permission to unveil his beautiful bride
Hahahaha Kate hides her face, just to prevent Simon getting blinded by her beauty, it was akin to staring at a solar eclipse 🙂
Yep, that’s my gurrrrlllll!!!
So many, many private moments…
The joy was infectious
Caught Kate blushing :):):):):):)
Kate should just sign up for a tooth-paste ad!!!!!! 100% we will all buy the product 🙂
Finally husband & wife!
Hahahaha, wonder what Simon had in mind 🙂
And this kiss takes the Oscar for Kiss of the century, and the priceless reactions from the team behind
Kate had to be supported afterwards, that kiss made her weak in the knees 🙂
Finally, it was time for Simon to unleash the secret gift
Aaaaawwww….it was a beautiful bouquet of flowers
Simon gets the handshake of approval from Kate’s dad!!! You’re the man!!!
Dance, dance, dance
Yeah, that’s the good lookin’ photographer 🙂
Cough, cough*** practising for the wedding night now, are we? 🙂
