I am a sucker for beautiful love stories. Sophie & Charles are such an amazing couple with a beautiful story. I thank God for giving me such wonderful clients and especially those that love & honour God. We shot their engagement shoot sometime back and this is what they had to say about the day they got engaged
‘Sophie :: Charles proposed by turning a date night into an elaborate recreation of our first date, culminating a little over 3 years worth of friendship. Leading up to the day, I was constantly telling myself an engagement wasn’t going to happen that summer – very oblivious of what was awaiting. It had been a very busy summer for both of us and this was his last weekend in Texas before he went back to Oklahoma for the rest of the year. So, I honestly kept thinking there was no way he had time to plan it all out. Charles is the mastermind of surprises and was throwing me off big time. He started off by weaving the whole plan into our routine. Every other week, we had a special date night where we would look up restaurant recommendations on food network, dress up nice and venture out to create our own food network worthy kinda experience. This particular date was no different (I bought that hook, line & sinker). Long story short, he elaborately recreated our first date. With the addition of Jason De Rulo’s song ‘Marry me’ playing in the background (link above), the lyrics popping up on the TV screen and him singing along. It was not until the chorus that I realized this was all about us.
Everything he said here on out was basically a blur. The song, the letter that chronicled our relationship and his hopes for our future, the surprise…everything was a whirlwind of emotions. We then celebrated with an amazing Italian dinner and desert courtesy of Zeppole Restaurant at the Gaylord resort.
Charles :: My nervousness had reached an all out fever pitch! Although I can’t entirely remember everything I said, I do recall ending the babble with ” there is nothing that would make me happier..” Then I dropped to one knee.
The realisation of what was missing in my life was all too apparent. What started off as conversations about everything except dating, slowly but surely turned into something that would last a lifetime and beyond! So happy we decided on forever and we give God all the glory!

I love me a good bicycle shot
*08.01.15* The day Charles proposed was the best day of my life so far. Not because of the glittery ring (although I’m sure that helped), but because this was confirmation that he wanted to sit on the front porch when we’re 80, drinking some strong Kenyan brewed tea, reading the newspaper and watching our grand kids do slave labor for us (that’s how it works… right?). ~ Sophie 🙂
