I sat worried today, wondering about all the utterly sad & painful things that have been happening in our beloved country, Kenya and generally all over the world. As I sat, I remembered about what the bible tells us, to be aware about the signs & times & realise that the end is drawing near & all these are just birthing pains of what is about to happen, the end of the age. As I thought about all these, I happened to scroll through my phone & stumbled across this video that a buddy of ours had sent me via whatsapp…kindly take the time to watch this video, it absolutely moved me & changed my life forever
What the late Dr. Myles Munroe said in this video is so profound, it’s earth shattering. If only each of us, would adapt this as our mantra and make it our desire to live out our full potential on earth & then die empty, then death would have no victory on us. My heart’s desire is that we will be a light, Jesus’ light, to our generation. That we will not live mediocre every day & in every way we want to serve God’s purpose to our generation & if or when that time comes then we will indeed die empty & disappoint the grave.
Today, I have the utmost pleasure of sharing with you a wedding we shot a while ago. We have personally known Richie & Betty for quite a while now, since we used to go to the same church with Richie before he left for full time ministry. One thing I really loved about these two love birds is the fact that they love Jesus so much…thus it made our job so much easier, telling the story of their love…without further ado, here is their love story

Betty and I met in campus. We both served in the worship team of a Christian fellowship called SALT under Mamlaka Hill Chapel. We sang for months and honestly I didn’t notice her all that time until after an annual concert we had. After the concert, the team went for a retreat at Olepolos to celebrate it’s success as well as to unwind. During the retreat, I met Betty uphill very exhausted and panting really hard; I thought she would faint the next minute. I offered her a gentleman’s hand and we introduced ourselves as we climbed uphill. On our way back to campus, I asked her to be my date for an upcoming SALT dinner and she said she would think about it. Immediately, I knew my pursuit journey had begun. I must say, Betty is a focused and goal oriented lady and I knew in order to win her, I had to start off as a very good friend. I discovered we both liked rock music, nature and social work, so it was easy. On the other hand, we were extreme opposites in personality and I knew she would complement me. After 9 months of lunches, late dinners in town, strolling and getting to know her; she finally said Yes. Speak of patience… And now 4 years 7 months down the road; I have a wife, a lover, a friend and a confidant. Thank you God for my Mwari.
The first day I noticed Richie (Mosho) was at a practice session we had in preparation for an annual concert we had as a worship team. And it wasn’t on a good note because he used me as an example of guys who were so quiet in the team. After the concert, on a retreat he offered me a hand while climbing uphill as I was so tired. Later in the day he requested to have a photo with me, sat next to me on our way back to campus and asked me to be his date for an upcoming SALT dinner. I later agreed though we didn’t spend time together that evening; he was chatting with his friends all the time which I didn’t mind anyway and only got to know his second name as he escorted me back to my hostel. The next day, we met in the streets of campus and he asked me out for a coffee date. Many more dates followed but for some reason I never realised he liked me for so long. And even after I did, I never gave him a Yes or a No for an answer. After 9 months of numerous dates we had a big fight on a Friday because he felt I had kept him waiting for so long, he needed me to make a decision by Monday. That weekend, I took time off to search my heart and I realised I really liked him and didn’t want to lose him. And so on Tuesday we had a date, the one that would determine the course of our relationship and Yes, I agreed to be his girl. I am glad I did, Mosho is a great man and my gift from God. I am blessed to have him today as my hubby.
Today I will break a few rules & share with you the awesome wedding film done by the talented team behind Erikam Films 1st. You have to check it out…
We arrived early in the morning at the location of the bridal prep & preparations were well underway to prepare for the big day ahead
Betty’s gown was quite a looker 🙂 I always know once I see the dress, what kind of day this would turn out to be…awesome dress=awesome day!!!!
A little bit of their awesome details for the wedding
Reminds me of rag dolls 🙂 I absolutely have no idea why!
Introducing our groom of the day, Richie, who did not look at all nervous to me…or maybe he wass just good at hiding it 🙂
They were beside themselves with laughter, share the joke Bonny
The guys & Richie looking up to the part…those grey suites did them good justice
Back at the bridal prep, nail polish scent invaded the room to our dismay 🙁
Our lovely buddy Kate was the maid-of-honour. Definitely, her & her hubby Simon made one of the best best-couples of all time 🙂
Monica looked great after the dolling up
Before Betty got prepped up, we decided to shoot some portraits of the girls up & about the back yard
‘Sister-siter’ Kenyan version 🙂
Ipo’s shoe game was a 10′
Mercy, Betty’s sister was all smiles when she spotted her mum
Yep, that’s Betty’s gown getting strapped in…GAME ON!!!!!
Time to make Betty a princess fit for Richie
Loved her nappy African hair…a breath of fresh air from the norm
Before long we had the ululations of the singing women, as they came to receive the beautiful bride
At hand was my good buddy Simon who was also the best man….looking dapper, my friend
Then it was that time when the lovely bride was finally revealed…all the waiting & praying had been worth every effort. She looked lovely
Really joyous moment as Betty gets handed over to Richie’s mother…and right there & then she begins her happy-ever-after
Gorge, gorge & more gorge!!!
Well, who said you have to rock a veil to look stylish…fascinators are the stuff!!!!
Betty takes the award for best-bridal-car shot ever. She made this Range-rover look good!
Back at the venue, everything was ready to await the arrival of the bridal party
And when the entourage stepped in, it was not hard to realise this was going to be another wedding to shed off the few extra kilos 🙂
These brothers could break it down!
And then….finally Betty got to walk down the aisle…straight to the man who makes her heart go Kaboom like a tom-tom drum 🙂
Simon had to quickly improvise a human fan to dissipate the large beads of sweat that were congregating on Richie’s forehead 🙂
Finally the handing over
The worship team blew us all away…these ladies have indeed found their purpose, mission & life’s song!
How cool is it to get married in a floating island with palm trees all around!!!!!
As always, its great meeting friends you haven’t seen in a while
My lovely wife, Gathoni & her siblings
Jokes aside, time for some serious stuff
Richie flashing his signature…’Toothpaste – ad’ smile 🙂
It got Betty all blushing & all….:)
The rings! To serve as an eternal reminder of the vows that they will take before God & man
Sealed for life…till when God shall call us home
Finally, the long…long wait is over…its forever now, nothing can keep us apart
That KISS was so spectacular, earth-shattering & heaven-moving 🙂 that it deserved two angles!!!!
Woo-hoo!!!!! now for y’all planning to get married any time soon….start taking notes please 🙂
That kiss was so intense; the fascinator needed some fixing afterwards 🙂
Finally, signing their marriage certificate…now even the government will be witness to this great union
I quickly snapped some few frames of the two love-birds as they chatted unaware 🙂
The minister preached so well…definitely that was something Betty & Richie need to remember as they start this amazing journey
And when Kate was called upon to bless the food, jokes were dropped one after the other
Love, love & more love
Checking out like a boss!!!!
Love this picture right here
With both sets of folks
Part of the members of SALT
Since we had a few minutes at hand before lunch was served, we found a nook where we could take some portraits
Kate & Simon’s energy is off the decibels
At least we got one mushy-wushy portrait of them :)…such beautiful souls
Hahahaha loved this one right here too
Just incase you had any wacky ideas of kidnapping the groom…..
We could shoot these gentlemen all day…so easy & natural to photograph
The girls had some big shoes to fill seeing that the guys had killed it & all 🙂
They filled those shoes really well, don’t you think?
Big, bushy bouquets are too mainstream…minimal is the word 🙂
And then we stole aside Betty & Richie for some personal portraits
It must be a punishable felon to look these cute together!
Oh yes!!!! we live for images such as these
Time to get back to the reception guys, this is getting too hot!!! Some of us are still working, you know 🙂
The set up looking like a little bit of heaven visiting us here on earth 🙂
Tie up your dancing shoes folks, and this was just the beginning
Sun, you can shine all you want, we came here to throw this party down
This is called the ‘kwata-kawaya’ dance
Hi-10! your neighbour
These gadgets will kill us someday-Oh!
Show some love to the beautiful bride
Simon is the guy to see when you are looking at breaking your back at a wedding 🙂
At the end of the day…its all about Jesus man!
Then it was time for the bride & groom dance!!!! while everybody cheered them on!
Simon & Kate could not resist the urge of joining in all this fun
Richie & Betty may your life always be filled with this much love & happiness as we witnessed on this day
When we took a breather from all the dancing & blazing sun, we decided to do some rounds meeting new people 🙂
There was not a shortage of lovely subjects to photograph
Ignitaz dancers representing
Cynthia & Mercy light up the gift table
And the person responsible for all the dancing & sweating on the dance space…the incredible Dj Sanch
Just before we had some cake, Richie & Ignitaz stepped on the dance floor to burst some moves
Its safe to say they got the moves like jagger
Finally it was time to get us some well deserved cake
Together we can do more than we can apart
Their easy smiles warmed us all
And tear-jerking moments like this were plenty
Such happy, beautiful souls
Simon had been practising I see!
Kate the ‘cake-lover’ in her true colours 🙂
Such a gracefull bouquet toss, but unfortunately there could be only one winner
Red’s the lucky colour 🙂
Even the guys had their own bouquet toss too…as always men & commitment share a lot with oil & water!
Meet & greet before we ship out
And then we spotted this horse & with permission from its handlers we were able to capture some quick portraits
Some Behind the Scenes set up to the sunset images…Mike on the Octobox & Ken on the video cam
The final product of all the hard work!
Richie & Betty got us some props that we used to spruce up the shoot
And after the sun set, the blue skies checked in!!!! gorgeous!
Looks like they walking into their happily-ever after 🙂
Silhouettes have now become our new favourite past time
Then we got the entire crew in for one last group silhouette
What’s a Kenyan wedding without the all time great jumping-shot
The lake provided such a perfect back drop to these yummy images
After this we left for The Hilton, Nairobi for the last look portraits.
Oh how I love!
Will love you till INFINITY!
I call this…the ‘Ride or Die’ pose
***Choreographed by Betty
Coz cash is too mainstream 🙂
Marriages are indeed made in heaven….we need more couples like this who cast marriage in a beautiful light
Spot the photo-bomber? 🙂
And after this every bone & muscle in our body ached till none of us could function normally any more :). It had been such a great wedding…oh my, such a beautiful love story between these two wonderful souls. Betty & Richie, we pray for you that you will find fulfilment & happiness in each other and may our good Lord continue using you both in your individual spheres of influence…Loads of love!
