When you get asked by two very good friends of yours to shoot their wedding, then you stop think, take a deep breath & thank God. Njanja & Koby are amongst the leading make up artist in Kenya today & documenting their wedding was a wonderful challenge & joy to us. We had worked with the two of them for quite a while & also Koby was the one who did Gathoni’s make during our wedding. This was one wedding, we had loads of fun being part of…
We took the time to ask Koby how this love story came to be and this is what he had to say about it…
So, we met in college, one afternoon in May 2009, when we both enrolled to take up beauty therapy at Vera beauty College.
I was already in class when Njanja walked in, while class was in session, she came and sat behind me. Apparently, the entire time class was on, she was distracted by the waves on my hair, brother was always on point. (I don’t say)
I did notice her too, long hair, pretty, innocent looking girl wearing a flowing skirt.
Anyway, I waited for her down stairs after class to walk her to the bus stop with the intention of wooing her, not knowing this would be the beginning of a long chase. The chat to the bus stop was great and so was the second day, and the third, the 83rd wasn’t too bad either ….Hehehe.
Njanja was determined to play hard to get but I wasn’t giving up that easily, finally on 11th July 2010 she agreed to let her guard down and decided to give me a chance 🙂
A year later she had to travel to Taiwan for work, these were the longest 7 months of my life, we communicated daily on mail and occasionally skyped. Long distance relationships can only work if both parties are willing and committed.
When she came back, it felt like we’d been apart for years, nothing had changed, apart from the fact we loved each other even more.
Fast forward to 5th October 2013, a day after her birthday, I popped the big question at her own birthday party in front of our close friends who came to party with us, she said yes:) That marked the second happiest day of our lives, aside from our wedding day.
We support and comfort each other through the toughest times and together we’re strong, we can overcome anything when we put our minds to it. I am the luckiest man alive and can’t imagine my life without her, the Queen to my kingdom. The most beautiful, strong, hardworking woman I know, she actually works really hard.
Our families are so in sync, in spite of the cultural difference, we chose to be unique and we love that we brought them together.
We had the best wedding ever and had tons of fun, this by far is the most memorable day of our lives and we can’t thank families and friends enough for sharing it with us.

Shock to us all when Njanja & Koby were the designated make up artists for the day 🙂
Njanja hard at work, at the moment we all forgot that she was the bride 🙂
Their excuse was that no one was good enough to do their make up! They are such thorough perfectionists & only they could do what they do best
Tools of their trade…I have really come to respect the all the work that goes into making women beautiful…kudos to the artists behind it!
Stacie & Kate selfie it away
You know this was one for the history books when the groom does his bride’s make up on their wedding day!
Njanja’s dress was a thorough win!! As you know she had spent her life being around brides, so you know hers had to be the very best!
Jimmy Choo was well represented!
Njanja & Koby’s love for watches is insane…and yes that is a Michael Kors right there!
After the make up session was done, Koby left to go join the guys as the prepared. The ladies held hands, prayed together & left for Njanja’s matrimonial home to get dressed
Koby & the guys hang out as they have breakfast
Today, Emmanuel Jambo had downed his photography gear & doubled up as the chef & best man 🙂
Just a sneak peek into Koby’s wedding details
Koby is one of the most stylish guys I have ever come across, so definitely style was a big part of this entire wedding!

Meanwhile when we arrived, Njanja finalised on her make-up before she put on her dress
Stacie, the maid of honour, helps Njanja get into her dress
And now we all know where Njanja gets all her beauty from….her mom
With the lovely bridesmaids
Loved her choice of shoes…she got style!!!!
The ladies decided that Njanja was not tiring her feet walking, so they carried her up like royalty 🙂

And when they spotted the beautiful bride…
Brother got very emotional 🙂
And when the man of God asked if there is anyone with a valid reason why these two should not be joined together?
When no one showed up, it was all smiles from the two lovebirds 🙂
Seba looking really dapper
Koby & Njanja kept cracking jokes the entire time 🙂
Brogues and gentlemen do make a fine mix
Bishop & Mrs Mark Kariuki were in attendance too…very stylish couple
And Koby got to shake his beautiful brides hand for the 1st time
Happiest people in the globe
When Koby was saying his personalised vows, it was serious business….
Or so I thought 🙂
Njanja’s vows too were hilarious but very sweet…she promised to watch every basketball match with him 🙂
Emmanuel on that bestman tip
When the ring won’t go in…force it LOL!
Finally legal…husband & wife
Tucked in safe & sound
That awkward moment when the man of God asks you to kiss your wife right under her parents’ nose 🙂

Trezer & Seba found their equal 🙂
We turned quite a few heads, well, who cares!
You cannot force style, it comes naturally 🙂
Once an artist, always an artist, even on your wedding day 🙂
And when they discovered a basket ball, it was chaos all over the gaming arena
Ahem, I really wonder how Kate balanced in these heels all day long, I will make a point of asking her next time!
It was all systems go when we discovered the bumper cars at the miniature amusement park

I wonder who won this game 🙂
Emmanuel & Seba smashed the ‘High-striker’ record
This should be the real….Love & Basketball!
It was so much fun that Koby had to literally carry out his bride or else there would be no reception 🙂
Elevator kiss, just like in the movies 🙂
Time to go folks!
The reception set up was simple and super gorge!
We came back to some mad dancing….maeeen, this was a party unlike any other!
We started off with the proverbial dance-train!
And then the party started…free-for-all!
And when the DJ dropped ‘Kanungo’!!!!
This is the We-are-family dance….
Too much fun!
After this the ladies got to sit down and cheer the men as they turned it up on the dance floor!
Let’s just say they saw some moves fit for the record books!
This is what all weddings should look like!
After this the ladies took to the floor & absolutely demolished any hopes the guys had of taking the best-dance trophy home
These girls knew how to get down, really down
Njanja being former Sarakasi dancer, this was just a piece of sweet cake, sorry guys 🙂
As you can see Koby had not forgotten to be a gentleman!
Beautiful people all over!
And just before we cut the cake…some more fun times
Koby got to put his long days in the gym to some good use 🙂
Such a sweet pic this is 🙂
Finally it was time to slay this delicious cake!
And Njanja prayed the sweetest prayer ever
Slicing all through those tiers was not a piece of cake!
The crazy-ness these two posses, is on its own special level 🙂
Hahahaha a few champagne-popping lessons from the groom!
The most important thing about people in love, is to have fun with each other, hope this lasts your entire lifetime Njanja & Koby!
Emmanuel & Wacuka catch up on old times
After this it was time for some meet-and-greet!
Beautiful moments these were
Next it was time for the single ladies, and MC Peter did a remarkable job at it!
It’s called feeling the beat!
When it comes to bouquet-catching one theory always applies….Darwin’s Theory- Survival For the Fittest 🙂
Peter got to interview our lucky future-bride 🙂
The wedding was done, it was just time to let go & have fun!
This was loads of fun!
And its a wrap people, definitely, wedding of the century!

Oh the African sun is just too gorgeous!
Hahahaha too gorgeous!
Njanja should just quite being a make-up artist and high-fashion it away!

Capturing love between a man & his bride is something we believe God called us to do…and we will do it, all for the glory of His name!
That blazer!!! Winning all the way!
Their pendants each make half of a love heart!
And with these last two gorgeous portraits, we bid you adieu and close the curtain to this beautiful love post…Love is such a precious thing and always we thank God for the chance to document it & save it for posterity for these amazing people.
Koby & Njanja we all know that what you have found in each other is precious & eternal. My wife & I wish you the very words of Song of Solomon 5:6-7
