Almost a year ago, I had the God-given privilege of shooting this beautiful wedding. Martin & Purity’s love is one for the love novels, so pure, so rich, so innocent. It’s such a joy to share their love story after so long, thank you Martin & Purity for your patience, am sure it will be well worth the wait!
“I first saw Shiko when she was in high school. I had gone to visit my sister and they were good friends. I was struck by her confidence nevertheless, I didn’t pay it much thought because the fact remained, she was in high school. Too young, I thought ,considering I was in campus. The next time I saw her, she was in her final year and my sister had invited her to my graduation party. After high school she began her campus in Nairobi. I’d see her from time to time, since my sister lived with me. I slowly started to pay attention to her, but she wouldn’t give me the time of day, imagine that!!! After a long year of persistence, she agreed to go out with me on new years eve 2011 . That was the first time we actually talked.
Shiko was smart, really smart, very mature, and had high values and beliefs. The more we got talking, the more we connected. She was still playing hard to get and a whole month passed before we met again. She said it was important to her to get her degree without any complications!!!! She was passionate about her education and I respected that. We got to know each other, became fast friends and FINALLY started dating. When she was in her final year, I proposed to her and she down right said NO! ” Graduation first then marriage” she said and I waited.
She graduated and my chance came. She really waited on that ring to a point that she became very suggestive, showing me rings and wedding shows. I made her wait for it. But I couldn’t wait anymore. She’s my soulmate and I couldn’t wait to start my life with her. I had waited enough. So one day, I told her I was surprising her with a birthday trip. She didn’t see it coming. I remember her complaining on the drive to Nyahururu,”Are there not nicer or closer places in Nairobi ? We’ve been driving for almost 5 hours. I’m hungry and exhausted and we are in the middle of nowhere.” When we arrived at Tafaria castle she changed her tone. I knew she would, she’s into ancient things like that. I’ll never forget the look on her face when we went for dinner and I got on my knee. She never saw it coming..”

We started off early in the day and the bridal prep team did a fantastic job with hair and make up. The mood was relaxed despite the chaos of 5 ladies getting ready.
Purity’s dress was beyond gorgeous. Some hints of sparkle detail and the hair up do brought out absolute elegance.
Her accessories complimented her look perfectly
Every one stared at her in awe for she the most beautiful woman that day.
Family members took time to catch up with hot drinks as they waited to escort the bride to her wedding.
The women sang songs of celebration as this was Purity’s final moments as a single woman.
On the grooms side, the atmosphere was very calm but energetic. Martin was clearly very excited to finally marry the woman of his dreams and get Purity off the market for good.
Martin’s boys helped him get ready to look his best for his one and only.
The boys looked very sharp and were camera ready.
The dapper man of the day.
.. they did not forget the most important things of all.
The ceremony was held at Windsor Hotel and yet again, the ever green surroundings did not disappoint. Beautiful white foldable chairs enveloped the gardens as a pop of red petals cascaded down the aisle. It was angelic.
Martin was ecstatic as he walked down the aisle with his mother by his side.
The brides maids fiercely followed suit.
It turned out to be quite the dancing affair ..
The young one got a little practice for her day in the future…
And finally, it was time.
The moment we had all been waiting for. Purity walked down the aisle with her parents by her side. It was a moment to behold.
Martin could not help but break down as joyous emotions swelled his heart.
Heart felt vows were made.
Rings were exchanged symbolizing a declaration of their eternal love.
Purity could not withhold her smile as members of the clergy prayed for them.
The two houses became one and their parents blessed their union
They passionately locked lips and it was a wrap! They were husband and wife.
They could not wait to show off their brand new Bling.
Purity took on the role of a wife right there on the spot.
The couple ensured that their marriage was legit by signing legal documents.
And the happy couple briskly ended the first part of the ceremony by dancing out and greeting guests.
We momentarily moved away from the guests to do a photo shoot. It was so much fun..
The couples love and evident happiness made my work easy.
As the lyrics go ‘wawiri kwa wawiri eehh …’
The kids were also in on the fun
Si sorry! They killed it!
Seems like there was a height requirement to be a grooms man. Notice how most are at the same level? hehehe..
Genuine laughter pierced the air as good photos were taken.
It was about time they got married . lol!
The newly weds made a lively entrance to the reception.
The rain did not stop the women from celebrating. It was turned up!
Speeches were made and gifts were presented.
Cake cutting time! Lets just say that it was very cinematic. I have to say I had never seen such an innovative cake before. Creativity at its best.
Family and friends came in for pictures with the couple.
We went ahead and did a second photo shoot after the reception and it was just as enjoyable.
Their poses were so flawless I though it was rehearsed:)
The black and white made the pictures look like they were straight out of a magazine. Lovely!
Martin: “Shiko is my best friend, my soulmate, love of my life. The most beautiful, kindest, intelligent woman I’ve ever met. I loved her from the moment I met her, I just never admitted it..”
This was one of my favorite shots. Simply breath taking.
The couple decided to change things up a bit and still managed to look effortlessly amazing.
Purity: “Martin is the great love of my life, he makes me laugh, he’s my world and Gods gift to me. One that I’ll forever be grateful for. He’s my human.”
And of course, some final shots with mum.
Thank you Martin and Purity for allowing us to be part of this life changing event that captured one of the most important days of your lives. May God continue to bless your marriage exceedingly, abundantly and beyond as you start this wonderful journey.
