This was one of the most special weddings we have had opportunity to shoot this year. Kim & Nyambura are really amazing people and their wedding story just proves that true love does exist, a true testament that you can find love in even the most bleak of places & circumstance. Kim shared with me their how-we-met story…
How we met:
‘The story of how we met is really simple and it started around 2006 in California, USA. We used to attend the same church but never really talked to one another because I am really shy and Nyambura kept and still keeps to herself, and doesn’t notice people around her if they are not family or close friends. I had noticed her but never said anything to her.
We first officially met around December of 2006, when I had a very serious car accident and was bedridden for a few months. During this time, a lot of people from church used to pay me visits just to check up on me and see how I was doing. Nyambura’s family knew my family (this is important because she didn’t know who I was at the time) and they decided to come visit me at my parent’s house in Riverside, California. Luckily for me, she accompanied her family during the visit and that’s how we officially met. During this time she was so caring and helped me a lot since I couldn’t do much on my own. From that time we became very close friends.
For me, I’m not the type of guy that would pick up girls off the street/bars and start a relationship. I have always found that to be reckless at least for me. Being really close to her as a friend made me realize the type of person she was and still is in terms of her personality and really how genuine she is. I don’t think I have met anyone in my life who is as driven as she is, with such an amazing heart. She keeps her circle of friends small but really her friends are like family to her. It took me sometime to ask her out, due to my immaturity at the time and knowing how serious of a person she was and still is, I didn’t want to play games. I finally asked her out around 2009 and my life since has just been blissful. She makes me a better person and compliments me in more ways than I can mention. I consider myself extremely lucky to have dated her since 2009 through thick and thin and finally tied the knot in 2017.’

I loved Nyambura details. She took her time to get everything in order, just the way I like it 🙂
Every girl needs a pair of Badgley Mischka‘s to crown her feet at one point of her life
Such a perfect combination of rings, diamonds for the girl & tungsten for the gentleman
Nyambura gets her glam on
Let’s check what the guys are up to
Guys unlike girls get ready in a jiffy, we already look good, so no need for touching anything up 🙂
Kim all set & looking the part. I loved the fact that they each adorned a tiny momento in memory of those gone before
Gentlemen and food go very well together 🙂
Back at Nyambura’s the excitement was starting to catch on, someone was about to get married!!!!
Chohi, Nyambura’s brother was the man-of-honour 🙂 I love weddings that break the boring norm & break some rules while at it!
And Nyambura got gifts for all her bridesmaids…how cool is she!!!!
The beautiful ones ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶e̶n̶ ̶b̶o̶r̶n̶ been born already 🙂
We paid for it, so why not?
Nyambura did not forget her mum’s gift…don’t they look amazing!
African girls killed it already 🙂
And finally Nyambura is handed over to her mum-in-love. Two amazing women who brought up our beautiful bride & dashing groom
‘See ya at the alter!!!’
Look how breath-taking the setup looked like, makes me feel like getting married all over again!
There’s only one way to check into your wedding, and it’s gotta be this right here!
The ‘golden girls’ stroll in
Dang!!!! Just in case you forgot who was wedding this was
Chohi walks in with the cutest ever flower-girl, a sight for sore eyes
This right here, is all kinds of beautiful
Seeing the woman God made & kept for you walking down the aisle got to trigger an emotion, even in the most manly of us
Kim seems to be the happiest human in the planet 🙂
Such a wonderful picture to honor this very special moment
Your life is not a life until someone looks at you this way 🙂
The process of two lives blending into one had never looked this exhilarating!
And this very happy union was finally sealed with a kiss from husband & wife
Finally, done & dusted…the newest couple in the continent!
What’s the word that’s better than gorgeous?
Our mom’s are the most special people on earth, they all deserve a special place in heaven
After this we drove down to The Residence at Karen Country Club for some portraits under the hot afternoon sun
Gorgeous location, the rustic architecture & natural flora makes you want to live her for the rest of your earthly existence
Chohi & the girls slaying all the way to Timbuktu
I love me some good symmetry, right up in my photography alley
Dance like someone’s watching & taking notes 🙂
A little beef can hurt no one…right?
Hahahaha..just ignore those two!
That golf cart might just make it to some overseas fashion magazine 🙂 #SlayKings&Queens
We managed to cram everyone on to one bed
Someone tell me is it the guys or girls who nailed it?
Back at the reception, we were met with a very intricately done set up
We were welcomed with much song, jubilation & african tunes
Make room for the King with his queen
Behold the glorious cake!
Kim & Nyambura honored us with their 1st dance during the reception, yet another breath of fresh air from our traditional African weddings
Finally, it was time to sample this sumptuous looking cake
But 1st a kiss from Mr & Mrs Kimani!
Hahahah!!! Kim wasn’t ready 🙂
And finally a toast to those gone before us
And to some more gorgeous portraits of Kim & Nyambura, who are both as beautiful inside as they are on the outside
Isn’t she lovely!
Nyambura made the perfect subject for our cameras
Am sure this will make the list of #WeddingGownGoals for a number of upcoming brides 🙂
Stunning all the way to a happy ever after!
Kim & Nyambura are such joys to shoot, I wanted it to last for eternity
Peace, tranquility, serenity, quietness, contentment all fall short of describing what this picture makes you feel
And with this kiss, it was off to get our groove on!
The after-party was at the Carnivore where it was time to let loose the predator in us 🙂
I only hope it was their own money they were chopping 🙂
Where we party like its 1999
When you favourite jam comes on and you just have to be heard above the noise all around 🙂
Brother that’s where the dance floor is, go destroy it!
When the photographer becomes the photographed or the other way round 🙂
When the beat hits that spot 🙂
I bet the song playing was Pharrell Williams’ – Happy 🙂
I can smell a shuffle from 1,000 miles away
And the after-party cake was in form of a NFL helmet, how cool is that!
Oh how gorgeous are these two!
And more themed cakes were brought in…for the birthday babies I presume
And I would love to end this very loooong post with some beautiful images from Kim & Nyambura’s 1st evening-dance
AND A TO A HAPPILY EVER, THANK YOU FOR GIVING US A FAIRY TALE, KIM & NYAMBURA AND YES INDEED, TRUE LOVE DOES SURELY EXIST…
With Blessings and lots of love,
