The fact that beautiful love stories like this still exist, is still a mystery. I had tears in my eyes as I sat down on my desk to write this love story. The love that Kim & Kez posses for each other is transcendental, one unlike any I have ever witnessed. When I think of they two of them, these simple words of Maurette Brown Clark’s song – The One He Kept For Me, replay in my head…
‘The one I was praying for
The one He delayed me for
The one He kept for me
Until it was time’
So, before you start this post, play the song at the top of the post and let it create the canvas to paint this incredible love story. Two hearts that God brought together in a simple, incredible love story. Such stories as this, should be the true reflection of marriage, between a man & woman whose hearts are totally sold out to Christ.
I asked them how they came to be & this is what they shared with me
‘We both were in the same church and the same youth Group (CA’S).It was the year 2012 in November. We mostly saw each other on Saturday afternoons because that was the time the meetings were held. We didn’t talk or converse with each other much, other than the usual hello. Time passed and we found each other attending prayers the same time. This time because the numbers were fewer, Kim got the courage to engage me in small talk as we walked out. During that time, the only thing I felt was just little admiration for the fact that I found him to be a great actor when it came to drama. I was not interested in a relationship, so I didn’t bother much of whether we talked or not.
One night, we had our youth overnight prayer that lasted till morning. Since it was too early to go home, people sat around waiting for day to break. This was the second time we met & in about 30 minutes we had shared close to four years of our lives. Later, he asked me out on a date and I could not say No! Though I had told myself I would play hard to get on any man that approached me. Kim took me to this restaurant that he loved to go to. We had hot Kenyan tea and samosa 🙂 … and this was where Kim spoke his heart…
I told her that I loved her. She looked at me, her face was without any emotion. I knew this had caught her completely by surprise, she had not expected this. She wasn’t convinced, so I shared more of my heart…
For many months I had already started to like her and had developed feelings for her. I admired and loved how prayerful she was. She was always there ready to be of service, this really attracted me to her. The only thing that held me back from telling her was the fact that I thought she already had a boyfriend. This was because of how she used to carry herself. That night of the kesha was the breakthrough I was waiting for all along. The one I thought to be her boyfriend was actually her brother!!!!!!!!!!!
We went home after a long night, walking silently she said nothing of my confession, she simply just smiled. Two weeks later, as we sat on the stairs by her home, I asked her the big question…. Would she be willing to spend her life with me?
I cried because I had just told God that only at His time should he let my heart fall in love.
Song of Solomon 2:7 “…do not awaken love until it so desire.”
My heart had desired and so was awakened. I said yes, and that became the start of our journey. I had found a man, under the sun, who loved God more than anyone or anything. I found out what love was, care, honesty, respect and sacrificial love for the sake of the other.
2 years later at our dowry ceremony, he knelt down, in front of our family & friends with a ring in his hand. ‘YES I will marry you’, I cried out. We tied the knot 6 Months after the engagement, on the 16th of May, 2015. In front of God and everyone else, we promised each other love and a life of commitment to each other through whatever good or bad, life brought our way.
This is the story of our love!”
All glory to God.’

Kim ready for the fight of his life, the unending duel in the beautiful ring of marriage
The lover of all people, that is the essence of the man who Kim is
Posing with my Gathoni & Mercy, they also happen to be Kim’s Aunts 🙂
Back at Kez’s things were just getting started…
The girls getting their beauty treatment for the day, gotta look the part
Gorgeous Keziah a.k.a Bride of the day
Before we left it was time for some super-fun portraits
Kez’s smile does literally light up the world up & about her
With sister-in-love Jane and her cute daughter
Yep, time to leave now, Kez had to be re-united with her knight in shining armour
All the locals turned up, mesmerised at the beauty who had grown up in their backyard
Happy, happy farewell this was. She would return later, a wife, a conquerer & victor in every sense of these words
The procession of the ceremony was joy come alive
The pastor was here to give Kim a reassuring hand shake & a pat on his back that finally this day had arrived
A glowing bride is welcomed into the sanctuary to the waiting arms of her groom, the one she had patiently waited for
Beautiful, priceless moments these were
The one I’ve waited for
My love’s desire
The one He kept for me
Until it was time
All those late nights waiting for the wedding finally came crushing down 🙂
Kim gets to unveil his beaming, beautiful bride
Without a doubt, that is Keziah, my Keziah! My flesh, my bone, my love, my life!
The parents get to embrace each other as a pact that this union unites the two families into one!
The girls cheer them on! To live & to love, for all eternity
Oh this was so beautiful, their joy was so authentic, pure & unadulterated
And then when the minister pronounced them man & wife….Ululations rocked the sanctuary
And the guys demanded a public display of their affection!
Kim tried to brush them off, but this time the congregation joined in the clamor for a public Kiss 🙂
And finally the moment of truth arrived….***Drumrolls
Shy, shy Kez! but as you can see Kim’s the man! They nailed that kiss good 🙂
One of the most special moments in every wedding. The dedication of the newly weds
Putting ink to commitment never looked this good
All this while the bridal team’s mellow voices serenaded us
Has there ever been a more beautiful sight to behold as this
I can never over-emphasise on the value of Christ-based pre-marital advice. So much that Gathoni & I had to deal with married had a softer landing as a result of this. Definitely, something I would advice anybody seeking to be married to sign up for with their spouse.
Tucked safe & sound..
Happy, happy exit to a happy ever after that eagerly awaits them
Once outdoors, we discovered this awesome chain that was super fun to play with
This was one big, awesome bridal team. Family & friends all together
I absolutely loved these candid portraits of the two of them
Perfection is what this is!
This looks like a little bit of heaven
Oh, images like this are what I live for
By now we were more than famished, ’twas time for some lunch
Famished or not, we all had to dance. Nobody throws a party like this any more! Why?
Give me a party like this, any day, everyday. Just pure joy, happiness, the way we do it in Africa
Party till your head throbs like a mallet on stone
Somebody remind me what this dance is called?
Take me back to this day, I want to go back…Now & forever more!
Oh my, oh my!!!
Look at these crowds..the energy!!! would make the heavens come down!
And they did all this dancing without even breaking an ounce of sweat… Make the gym your ally my friends 🙂
And when the DJ dropped some good ol’ caribbean gospel music….
So many happy & beautiful people all over
Time for some cake, my people
Look at these two love birds…can two people be this cute
After this we headed for some final portraits as the evening dawned
The sun had just set, but we did as much as we could with the available light
Time to head to the bedrooms 🙂
The curtain falls with this lovely image, to cap a perfect love story. Fairy tales do exist you see, you only have to believe…God makes it perfect in His own time…
