Glory be to God, for such beautiful love stories as these do exist….we were privileged to be part of such an amazing love story as this one. Jackie & Maina are simply heavenly and covering their wedding was some what of a dream come true…
God in his greatness made marriage and brought two wonderful souls together in holy matrimony. For all those reading this, who do not believe that true love does exist, then this wedding is a shining testament of this truth. This verse describes this union in ways I never could
‘And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1st Cor 13:13)’
I did ask them how this love story came to be and this is what they had to say….
Jackie and Maina’s story is about the resilience of love. We were first introduced to each other in 1998 following which our lives have taken us half way around the world and back. The first day we met, we talked endlessly about every random topic we could think of right out of an encyclopedia. “I knew he was special because he was easy to talk to, he challenged my brain and we talked forever, and of course he was handsome”, Jackie says. Maina remembers the first day he met Jackie and how he was attracted to her as she was mentally engaging, had a sense of humor, and a twinkle of beauty in her eyes.
Shortly after we met, Maina moved to the US for graduate school and not long after that Jackie also moved to the US on an exchange program. Though we lived in different parts of the country, something kept bringing us together. Even when we moved to other countries, Jackie to Haiti and Maina to South Sudan, we still had a connection and love that transcended the distance. It was not easy, and we had our hurdles along the way, but true love overcomes all challenges.
We finally found ourselves in the same place, in South Africa, where we both realized our destiny was to be together and this was sealed on 25th June 2014 while travelling in Brazil. We had gone to watch the World Cup as we are both football fans (Jackie being the bigger fanatic!), when Maina got down on one knee and proposed to Jackie. This was Maina’s world cup win when she responded with a scream of joy and excitement! It has been a beautiful journey which will only get better now that we are man and wife.
Loads of Love,
Jackie & Maina
And the amazing team that brought this beautiful love story together…

We started off the morning bright & early! Jackie chose to have her bridal prep in the gorgeous & expansive Ole Sereni Hotel
We caught Jackie & the girls having breakfast at the hotel restaurant…there was bright & brilliant colour dispays & delicacies all over
For the dress, we chose a spot over looking the great savannah that makes part of the breath-taking Nairobi National Park. We had a metallic giraffe for company as you can notice 🙂
Two thumbs are not sufficient enough to show our love for Jackie’s choice of heels for her wedding day
Koby, keen at his skill, dolls up our beautiful bride of the day, Jackie
Jackie absolutely rocked those morning bridal shots pretty well, cold notwithstanding!
As you can see, wine comes in many shapes, sizes & NAMES 🙂
The floral print on the girls’ gowns reminds me of Orient China 🙂 I have no idea why…Here they were simply Aaaah’ing away at Maina gift to Jackie
Cheers to a great & happy life, and many babies in between 🙂 To Jackie & Maina!!!!!! **Clink!
Jackie & Maina’s theme was vintage & yes they got the vintage VWs, I thought this looked like a scene straight out of a World War II flick!
The cars were in amazing pristine condition
Jackie chose to deck her gown in her matrimonial home…so the guys were here to escort her home
The girls looked absolutely gorge
Back at Maina’s, colour & detail was splashed in plenty
Table typical of any guys crib…I have no idea why my eye keeps wandering to the stack of cash on the table 🙂
Anthony Mwangi a.k.a Maina
This has to be the most colourful montage I ever did see!
Maina, in all meanings of the word, was ecstatic!!!!!
Maina & Ben, one of the groomsmen…looking beside themselves with joy
The girls help Jackie get into her Enzoani gown.
Isn’t she lovely!!!
Jackie with her loving father & brother
Captured the joy & jubilation as Jackie left home for one final time as a bachelorette
We got to Kigwa View at Windsor where everything had been prepared in such fine detail to await the bride & groom
One of our favourite officiating ministers Rev. Edward Karanja, walks in with Maina’s dad
Ian Mbugua looking as serious & dapper as always
Maina walked in with enough joy to light the place up!
The page boy looking really dapper
And then we all caught a glimpse of this breath-taking sight of Jackie walking down the aisle with her father
And for us all, the precious tears freely fell, such a beautiful moment indeed
The ring, eternal symbol of love, marriage and all the blessings it does bring
Their happiness & joy can inspire any poet to become a ‘Shakespeare’ 🙂
Such a beautiful image, speaks volumes that need no words to explain
Vows and exchange of rings
I absolutely adore this image, captures the spirit of this moment perfectly
They sang such a beautiful duet during the certificate signing
Oh the joys without bound, of finally becoming husband & wife
Loved their unity sand ceremony..so much joy & happiness
And they shared their 1st passionate kiss as husband and wife
And we had a surprise performance by one of Kenya’s most talented musicians, Elani
Jimmy Gathu introduces the next generation to Selfies 🙂
Mwaniki Mageria, one of the best Event MCs ever!
Jackie & Maina got to light a candle in memory of those who had gone before us, such a beautiful moment indeed
After this we had a very lovely & fun recession
During the family portraits we got a chance of shooting both families together
These 3 wonderful ladies helped raise us Jackie as she was growing up
As we were busy with the portraits, the guests got to have cocktails…this was one of the most elaborate set-ups I ever did see
The wooden vintage car was something straight out of a fairy tale…kudos to AURA
It was a real fun meet & greet
Rev. Njoya & family were in attendance too
After this we took a stroll and chose a spot where we could take some portraits
The vintage cars did come in handy!
The ladies help down the princess 🙂
Maina was just hanging out with the ladies, when all of a sudden….
And when the KQ cabin crew threatened to fly away with Maina, Jacky was at hand to ensure that Maina stayed grounded 🙂
I love me some goofy bridal party pics

Oh these images just warm my heart up!
Strolling back to the reception area
We got welcomed by a bevy of beautiful singing women

The reception set up!!!! Oh my, definitely the best one I have seen to date….AURA brought their vintage dream to life…the decor deserves accolades for days
Nothing gets me going like a couple who have invested in their decor! Details are everything!!!!!
They took the centre piece to 5 whole new levels 🙂
You can catch my reflection in the silver 🙂

The food!!! Windsor make some of the most sumptuous meals and their meat!!!!!!! Deserves an Oscar!
The reception was full of wonderful good times
So many beautiful people all over, to add to the glory of this amazing wedding
And then it was time to sample the delicious cake…I loved the cake table…that was something way out of the norm
Custom made cutlery…the knife reads…’To Infinity & beyond’
Such pure love & joy
And pop went the champagne, cork et al
Jackie & Maina gave a personalised ‘Vote of Thanks’ and what really touched my heart is that they appreciated each & every of their wedding vendors personally, that to me is a mark of both humility & greatness
Afterwards, they got to go round all the tables and take pictures with their wedding guests. How cool is that?
This is just too beautiful
At night the decor came to life!
Later on we headed to Oak Room within the golf course for the after party…which was crazy mad!
For the dance floor, Jackie & Maina had sandals for each of their guests
When they came in, they started off with their 1st dance
It was so very beautiful
And then, the dance floor was officially opened!
Time to take it back to the 80’s with the shuffle
Feeling the beat!
Music & joy do make a good mix
You know you have a good party when they feel the soul of the music
Jackie & Maina blessed us with one final well choreographed dance
Such a wonderful, beautiful love these two share
Before we end this post, we would love to leave you with some images from their last look
