To God be the glory, this will be one great post. We honour God that so far He has blessed my wife & I to be able to document some amazing moments between two special people in love. The only love greater that the love between a man & woman is the love that God has for you & me. WE have the greatest job in the world, and we are greatful that we get to take you guys through the story of our lives through this amazing people that we get to meet & help tell their story through images.
A few days to our wedding….we got to document Emmah & George’s wedding. We met them twice before many months earlier in Mombasa. Once they came to one of our photography workshops in Mombasa & talked to the photographers present about what a couple’s expectations are when hiring a photographer. Also we again travelled down to the Coast to shoot their engagement shoot which you can check out here.
Here are some of our favourites from the February wedding.
Ceremony & Reception :: Dinham Resort Gardens
Photo-session :: The Kentmere Club
Deco, Food & Cake :: Kate’s Creations
Make-Up :: Shiro Wanyoike (0721732227)
Cinematography :: Bootstraped Media
Bridal Prep Location :: Kingdom Gardens
MC :: Peter Gitau of Kayamba Africa (+254 723 171513)
Entertainment :: Kayamba Africa
Since George & Emmah live & work in Mombasa, Emmah decided to do her bridal prep at a guest house. Kingdom Gardens more than sufficed. I would recommend doing the morning prep at a hotel or guest house since it offers the perfect location to take images in. I wrote an article ago on tips to get amazing getting ready picture. You can check it out here.
Loved her heels, simple & exquisite is the way to go. And we shot the shoes with the beautiful backdrop of the African rising sun
Emmah’s jewellery made a statement on it own. Emmah was quite a simple bride…and simple is always good. We used a lamp post as a prop for her jewellery
At George’s side, the party was just getting started too. Faith captured their rings in all their golden glory
This is not just a watch…more like an arm Chronometer 🙂 seeing its comparison with the mighty Eiffel tower!!!
Updating whatsapp status for one final time as a bachelor 🙂
The guys looking on point with their suites
Meanwhile Shiro was busy doing what only she can do best….dolling up the girls
True love indeed 🙂 Cover models’ identity concealed to protect their privacy 🙂
Wedding program was also tailor made in the wedding theme colours, black & yellow!
Lashes are a bride’s best friend 🙂
Introducing our Emmah, our gorge bride of the day
One of the maids judges the effects of the make up on Emmah…from her facial expression your guess is as good as mine 🙂
A close up shot cannot get any closer than this!
The human face does make for a beautiful canvas…that ought to be some make-up artist’s tag line I guess
All the girls together, they made such a happy troupe!!! well, am sure at the end of this post you will second me on this
And when I asked to take some portrait of them….this is what I got!!!!!
These girls could pose. I was excited…there is a Swahili saying that says that a good day is seen in the morning…this was to be one of those days
I got back just in time to catch Emmah getting into her gown…we took some fun portraits as she was surrounded by her loving family & friends
Emmah was so bubbly & joyous. As always I insist that it is important for the bride to be joyous on her wedding day. It not only sets the stage for a wonderful day but also guarantees amazing pictures for the entire day. So #FutureBrides kindly borrow a leaf from Emmah. Not everything will turn out as you would wish but one thing you can do is smile…at the end of the day no matter what happens or does not happen you will both be very married 🙂
The conversation that was going on at this time was for tears!!!!! oh how much we laughed!
The girls were doing a surprise dance later on in the day…I stumbled across the practise session as they were doing their final touches
Emmah supervises just to make sure they stepped insync
Those are the facial expression of some girls ready to break it down bad 🙂
Emmah’s mum warms up to the camera here. Always a pleasure meeting the MOB (Mother of The Bride) this too is her special day
Emmah with her loving dad & mum. I cannot imagine letting go of your daughter…it must be one of the most bitter-sweet moments ever…all I can see in her parents eyes are a lot of pride & love for their daughter….I exist for such special moments
Emmah did some fun portraits with each of her girls
Yellow does make a lovely wedding theme color, doesn’t it? Such a happy-go-lucky colour
And I braced myself to a day of shooting some amazing top models!!!! It had to be Emmah & George’s wedding….BRING IT ON!!!!
Emmah’s buddy stopped by & as the norm I could not pass the photo-op
Nothing beats the pomp & colour of African weddings….so much song & dance….and joy all around
And when Emmah was welcomed by George’s end of the family it was fun & jubilation
Quite an emotional moment it was too…tears are part of the joy associated with weddings
The tears were forgotten and happiness took its place
The set up at Dinham Garden was breath-taking….and God had favoured us with such wonderful weather
That Reserved sat there so elegantly, I just had to take a picture of her (Assuming its a lady :))
And when the beat dropped!!! George danced like David did
George’s best man was next, and following George’s lead, he too did not disappoint
The bridal team too got down, disregard the ladies with their heels on the moving white carpet 🙂
Singing loudly along to the track was the in thing too
As a wedding commandment… all bridal parties should dance down the aisle, walking is too mainstream 🙂
The maid of honour even though she was solo, dazzled all the way down the aisle, & her one-hand dress took the day
And Emmah got a wonderful standing ovation as she walked down, with her parents on either side
The look that George gave Emmah was worth a billion dollars…so intense, it was burning into her
It even got Emmah blushing
And then the smiles started…it was like joy was being served in buckets
Hahahahaha 🙂 a good photo like this always warms up my heart
It was like everyone got the flu, well….the happiness flu 🙂
Taking precautions just in case all the beauty blinds him. Spot the guys trying to peep too at the back
And George finally unveils his gorgeous bride
Hmmmmm!!!! George was smitten & the words failed him literally!!!
Oh what a lovely smile
George places the ring on his wife Emmah
And there was a never a dull moment during the vows…so much laughter & love to share
And the prayer was so very beautiful as they were dedicated to God and offered to Him as man & wife
That little kid was so very cute
Finally the announcement that we had been waiting to hear for a looooong time….MAN & WIFE!!! can I get a woop woop!!!
Yep, turn around young man, I have to check out what it is that I got 🙂
Hahahah that is Emmah’s smile of approval…everything is is tip top condition 🙂
And when the officiating minister gave them the licence to officially kiss in public for the 1st time as man & wife…it was time for George to get ready for the task at hand 🙂
Wait for it…….
Yeaaaaahhhhhhh!!!! and with that we got the kiss of the year…the bridal party’s reaction was enough indication of how it all went down 🙂
And we all allowed them to be out of breath after that KISS 🙂
And then they did the Sand ceremony. There’s was quite unique since it had a foundation of some small pebbles that signified the presence of God as a foundation in their marriage
Yes man, I did it….I got the wife man!!!!!
I can imagine the conversation that was going on between George & Emmah, I am sure it was a chart-topping conversation
Legally husband & wife…even now the government knows it
And Emmah ensures that it was safely tacked in….right next to George’s heart 🙂
Oh the happiness levels were on an all time high!
And the recession had to be about dance….since that is what George & Emmah are all about, Dance!
After the family portraits we went across the road to Kentmere Club for some portraits. Though before we kicked it off we sat down for some heart-warming refreshments. I enjoyed this part the most 🙂
And when they spotted me, they had to strike a pose
After we was done being foodies, it was time to get our pose on!
The gentlemen looked really sharp, we were going with a cool & composed look on this one
That mean-mugging look!
A Bridal party between 8-10 members of the bridal team is ideal…I adore it when couples stick to this range, every now & then you get lucky to have a good number such as this
I love fun, unaware shots…always a favourite for us! That moment in between the moments
The girls were up next, and as we all know, girls just wanna have fun
The funny faces absolutely made my day…hotness to horribleness in a blink 🙂
And this has to be the most painful shot ever, well, for the photographer that is…especially when the bridal bouquet bumps your head 🙁
Loved the whole grungy feel of the wooden fence
And its impossible to have a Kenyan wedding without the infamous jumping shot…its in every bride’s shot list!
The are few things more beautiful than a girl’s twirl
Loved Emmah & the ladies…we really had a ball creating these images….to bad we had to head back for the reception, time waits for no man including brides 🙂
The yellow & black themed reception looked absolutely lovely….and the parasols was the wonderful icing on the cake….
Coca cola was as usual very well represented
Just incase you needed a shoulder to lean on 🙂
The carriage was here waiting for our Cinderella, for today let us call her Emmah 🙂
Dinham has to be one the most loveliest locations to hold an outdoor wedding in Kenya
A wider view of the reception that was
Their wedding was a splash of fashion colour…everywhere you looked…colour came alive
And when you put George, Emmah & an African beat…you expect crazy dance moves
So much joy, I hope that in some way you can get an idea of how much we partied, coz partied indeed!
And George could dance!!!! This was one moment he had been waiting for a long time
Party don’t stop this side of the Sahara….we party till we drop
Yep, we run this town!!!!
And when the guys took over…they showed the girls whose boss
Oh this was too much fun!!!
After this the girls got on the floor to do their surprise dance….and yes their dance did surprise us
Oh these ladies do know how to throw it down good
Afterwards they pulled the guys from their seats and it was the all time battle of the sexes
And the guys beat the girls hands down 🙂 or something like that 🙂
Just before we ate the cake…George’s mum blessed her children so wonderfully
This was so very special & wonderful
And then before we knew it, it was cake time. And we all rushed like honey bees to the cake, you cannot have enough cake for a lifetime
Pop went the champagne
Just after the final prayer was done we received the storm of the year. It rained so much it looked like Noah’s flood 🙂 But our good Lord is so faithful, the rain stopped and we got a chance to take some last look portraits before we headed on home
As they were tearing down the decor, we decided to sneak in a few shots
Peaceful & beautiful!
We absolutely loved the wooden bride…we decided to take some shots there
Afterwards we we headed down the road from Dinham to a tea farm to take some intimate shots
These two are so much in love!!!!
The tea farm was a brilliant place to shoot…we had the time of our lives
And voila!!! the honeymoon was over and Emmah had to get her hands busy on wifely duties
And when George started telling her to hurry up since he was getting late for his massage date…he got the full wrath of a woman scorned!
And it finally dawned on George that marriage is a partnership, two people get the job done much more effectively & efficiently 🙂
Mmmmmmhhhh Mmmmmmhhhh!!! nothing better than to kiss & make up or is this a make-up kiss?
After the music on our phones refused to play, Emmah & George decided to dance to the music in their heads 🙂
Oh & btw Mr & Mrs Sheep, who live just by the tea farm, dropped in to congratulate the newly weds 🙂
Loved her hair-piece…gorge cannot describe it enough
George was up next…he cleans up really nice
We ended the day with some fiery shots…we always have to end it on a high 🙂
Faith & I took an image with George & Emmah just before we hugged them goodbye. That is us trying to hide our fatigue & behaving like those lying instagram pics of We woke up Like this 🙂
We sincerely wish George & Emmah the very best that life has to offer. Life is so short & making cool friends as you makes this journey & experience so much more the worth. We love you guys lots.
Thanks y’all for dropping by…Faith & I are so very humbled that you take the time to journey this life with us….this is like our own little Reality TV 🙂 hopefully someday we will start our own…The Kiruthis 🙂 oh well, all in God’s own timing.
We Love You Looooootssssss!!!!
