Oh glory be to God…you can check out the vote tally & the other winners here.
Here is a little snippet of how much fun we had this weekend 🙂
Glory be to God…there is nothing more we could say. On Sunday, I also had the chance of ministering at our home church, PCEA Kahawa Farmers, and it was so great sharing with our dear family & friends about Jesus & renewing our commitment to live for Him every day of our lives.
Today, we share with you another beautiful wedding we shot some time ago. We had known Debbie & Rufus for some time since we had done some portraits of their beautiful family some years back. So, when Arune, their wedding co-ordinator, emailed us about their wedding, we were more than willing to come in & document this very special day in their lives. Also, their wedding was being held in one of Kenya’s most prestigious wedding locations, the Sovereign Suites which Gathoni & I had been waiting a long time to shoot in. So, ladies & gentlemen we present to you Debbie & Rufus’ beautiful love story

Peeking at Debbie’s beautiful gown as it hangs outside her matrimonial home
I asked Debbie to hold her beautiful heels & accessories, just to get a more personalised feel to her detail images
28th March, will be a date forever etched in Debbie & Rufus’ memories
Rufus’ Bianco shoes were too stylish….it always helps when a groom has a good fashion sense 🙂
Gathoni absolutely nailed the ring shot….getting that ring to balance like this was hard work!
Rufus gets suited up!
The gentlemen rocked them suits really well
All the men killed it on this one…Gathoni was going for that GQ tell-tale look
Back at Debbie’s our creative juices were really flowing
Well, its not rocket science to see that there is little love lost between this little angel & hairspray 🙂
As you can see Debbie’s engagement ring was kept under highly specialised canine security 🙂
Time to get the girls all dolled up
That lovely satisfied smile of a job well done
We had quite a few laughs as Debbie was getting her hair styled
Their little cute daughter dropped by to liven her mum up
The maids dresses really rocked…this shade of purple is known as tyrian purple
Debbie gets dolled up good
Weddings can be quite the emotional affair, got this beautiful image as tears flowed down Debbie’s face, so priceless
After a while Debbie’s sunshine smile was back 🙂
While Debbie got into her white gown….
See no evil 🙂 His little cute eyes had to be protected 🙂
It was really hot, so a battalion of ladies were at hand with home-made fans 🙂 to help Debbie cool off
That wonderful moment when the hair-pin meets the scalp 🙂
We shared a prayer over the day & also over Debbie & Rufus, that God would guide them through the day
Both sets of parents during the handing over…the excitement was tangible….this was going to be one very good day
We got into the car & left for The Sovereign Suites
White foldable chairs are my all time favourite
They had a guest list of 1,000 pax, this had to be one of the biggest, & well co-ordinated weddings we have ever attended
There was a lot of excitement amongst their guests…this was going to be one very exciting day
1st up down the aisle was Rufus hand in hand with his folks….Rufus’ mum has such an amazing sense in fashion
The miniature bride & groom were up next…
Loved this images that Gathoni got of the bridal team walking down the aisle
And the moment we had all been holding our breath for
Gorgeous Debbie is walked down the aisle with her folks
Rufus, looked quite at ease, though I think his easy demeanour was to conceal all the butterflies dancing around his tummy 🙂
Finally an easy smile broke on Rufus’ face when he finally saw his bride…it had been a loooong walk to get them here
Kids will always just be kids!!! Such joys to photograph
Kanji was at hand to lead the worship, love the reflection on his glasses
Very happy people all over, weddings should be more of joyous moments like this
Such precious moments during the handing over before the provost
More & more precious tears were shed. Before we did our wedding, I never really understood why so many brides & grooms cried during the vows, after our wedding I now understand. It is so powerful vowing before God & your family & friends to spend the rest of your life loving one person, the tears just flow automatically
With this ring I thee wed
Such a wonderful moment this was
The maid of honour (MOH) spreads some love yonder 🙂
Hahahaha I really wonder what Rufus was telling Debbie at this point in time
They had all eyes on them when they walked in….their awesome fashion sense was a head turner!!!
Their sermon was so so timely & relevant, really hope the cinematographers recorded it for posterity for Debbie & Rufus
Certificate signing…one of the most important moments during the ceremony.
The unity sand ceremony was super-fun!
Their cute little daughter was brought by Rufus’ sister for dedication
So precious, nothing beats a mother-daughter bond
Hahahaha loved the eye she gave me during the prayer
The provost got her to comment about what she thought about the wedding…she said its ‘On Point’
Njogu Njoroge from Kameme FM was our MC for the day
The recession was so much fun, they danced & danced!
Can you spot my dear wife Gathoni amongst the battery of photographers?
The official portraits were so much too…they had so many many family & friends who were there to support & wish them well
The cock-tail tables had been set up & they looked really beautiful
We drove to a nearby tea farm for some fun portraits…I love me a good tea farm
Hahahaha this was one very fun bridal team….the sun was setting so we got some really awesome portraits…from about 5-6:30PM is called the golden hour and this is the very best time to take portraits
The girls looked lovely!
The gentlemen looked really sharp too
We did a mini ring-wearing ceremony being celebrated by the rest of the bridal team
Sovereign Suites is so breath taking and we decided to take a few portraits there before we headed for the reception
Oh this architecture just does it for me, so #BridesToBe if you are looking for a wedding location, then Sovereign Suites should be top of your vendor list
They had set up a dome for the reception, and the decor was to live for 🙂
Their high table was a floral garden!!!! Man this is the stuff!!!
Pots Delight did such a remarkable job with the food
The women came in droves to usher in Debbie & Rufus
Good times these were
The ladies got their time to get down on the dance floor…it looked something like an all ladies gig
So many ladies, as far as the human eye could see 🙂
At night the set up simply took our breath away
The was a splash of refreshing fashion everywhere the eye turned to
Beautiful people all over
Eric Wainaina was at hand & he got the entire crowd dancing…such a talented artiste he is
So much energy & fun
Eric with Debbie & Rufus
The high table was win, win!!!! The work that went into creating this was well worth it
Loved the cake + cup-cakes it was simple yet elegant
A good laugh never hurt no body
And pop went the champagne
Cheers to the newly weds & a great life ahead….
After the reception was done we headed back to the suite to take some shots indoor…the wooden finish is unlike anything I have ever seen before
The gentlemen absolutely killed it…we were, as always, going for the high fashion GQ kinda look
And finally last but not least, Rufus
The girls were up next, and man…they really brought their A game
The queens of the game
These girls really knew how to have a good time
The couples were up next
One final one with the entire bridal team before we released them to go & change for the evening party
We then did some few portraits with Debbie & Rufus
After this it was time to partyyyyyyyy!!!! our highlight of the night…
Favourite time of the day as everyone is so relaxed and out there to have a good time
We had even one of the best one man guitarist I have ever heard…he had both young & old on the dance floor dancing
And then Debbie & Rufus did their 1st dance….loved the mood lighting really perfected the night
And with that kiss, the party started officially!!!
Homeboyz were on the decs to ensure that everyone was kept on their two feet
Lovely people all over
There was a photo-op everywhere you turned
Yep I look you looking me 🙂
This is what weddings should be like…joy, happiness & fun
They really knew how to throw a party & throw it well
And when Debbie tossed her bouquet..it was may the best woman win!
Hahahaha unfortunately there could be only one lucky lady
And the lucky lady was…..
And with this kiss, we had to call it a night…this had to be one of the most joyous & fun weddings we have ever attended…I only wish more & more Kenyan weddings would be more of merry making as compared to old tradition.
Gathoni & I wish Debbie & Rufus all the best that this life has to offer, may our good Lord bless & keep you and crown all your efforts with success…
Loads of Love,
Gathoni & Ben Kiruthi
