God has been so kind to Gathoni & I to give us the best job in the world, telling love stories through photography. We are so very grateful & humbled that our good Lord uses the gift that He has placed in our hands to serve humanity through wedding photography. Gathoni & I, always had this dream of documenting a few of the moments that happen behind the scenes as we tell this beautiful love stories that have graced this blog. Weddings are high stress environments & many a time we are so busy trying to document every moment, we forget to take pictures of ourselves, though once in a while, the lens happens to capture us. Thus, I went through our latest weddings and these images represent a snapshot of what you are not able to see…
Guests with cameras should be declared a global disaster by the United Nations!!! This is the norm at every wedding…this image basically depicts our daily struggle of getting the perfect shot amidst a sea of smart devices :(. So, at the next wedding that you attend, kindly let the official photographer(s) do their job, without them having to elbow their way through, promise?
We wanted to get the ‘smudged-face-glass shot’ so before the bride could try it out, Ken became our guinea pig….we ended up not doing this shot though 🙁
We had some extra time one our hands before the evening party started…so why not take some high fashion portraits of the wife 🙂
It was drizzling & I had just had my hair done….so don’t judge me 🙂
Sometime when the Make-up artist is late or the make up wears off, we are handy to touch up the bride, those pictures have to pop you know!
You can call Gathoni the ‘Professional veil-spreader’ she can do it even if you woke her up at 3AM & with her eyes closed 🙂
It was worth getting this shot at the cow shed despite us reeking of cow poo for a day or two 🙂
That’s the final image 🙂 I call it the ‘Cow-dung’ money shot 🙂
Roni, our beautiful bride of the day, allowed us to go & with her dress outdoors. We hang it by the chicken coop, as you can realise we have a high affinity for domesticated animals 🙂
#TeamBrownSkin, #LightSkinForDays #TheChoclateChics :)…. Mercy, Jess of Jazanda Wedding Films & my Gathoni pose for some fan photos 🙂
Don’t we look sweet. Us with Josh & Jess of Jazanda Wedding Films. We had just concluded the meet & greet and were idling about before going for our final last-look shoot. So, why not take some funky pics?
We make the dream wedding team…I am so fortunate to have Gathoni, she is my lovely angel shipped to me directly from the heart of God
This was one difficult shot, and as a rule of thumb we have to try out any challenging poses…the bride & groom had to lie down on a flight of stairs, the pain was unimaginable!
The outcome 🙂 George & Sempeyo rocked it out much better than we did 🙁
Mercy & Mike without make up 🙂 #TheyWokeUpLikeThis 🙂
Am changing careers just in case I get bored with photography 🙂
Gathoni & I demonstrate to Steve & Eunice how to do the KISS :)…marriage is so beautiful, I get free kisses through out the day 🙂
As you may have noticed, we shoot Canon. Well, it is just our camera of preference, no hard feeling on the other lesser brands :). I just think their lenses are pretty cool. Gathoni shoots a Canon 7D while I shoot a Canon 5D MkII
Kids do make the best subjects to photograph
As a result of work hazards like in the case above, we are enlisting the services of the flying doctors (As you can see I am with them on phone :)), you can never be too careful 🙂
And after we were done shooting the gown, we are very careful not to get any spot or stain on it
Our sister Mercy has absolutely perfected the art of taking selfies 🙂 She will be offering workshops on this soon, I hope 🙂
Look mum!!!! we discovered a fish eye lens 🙂 and now I finally understand why everyone keeps on saying that the Earth is round 🙂
If you know Gathoni, then you know that she is happiest soul in the face of this world, and she carries this wonderful joy wherever it is that she goes 🙂
Eeerrrrmmmm….I just realise now how touchy touchy we get during the wedding day…..our passion for perfection always finds a way through our fingers 🙁
OK, we will try & do less of this touchy, touchy business 🙂 #Vision2060 🙂
The two most beautiful sisters on the globe, one is already taken though 🙂
Waiting for the perfect shot takes time….that is what weddings have taught us, patience always pays !
I just loves the way Gathoni handles the big lenses, she looks mean & bad (in a good way :)) with it!
And every time I happen to spot her, then I start shooting her & forget that she is not the bride :), well, she is my bride though 🙂
I have no idea what I was saying here, must have been pretty hilarious though 🙂
Though no one seemed to be listening to what I was saying 🙁
Hanging the gown, takes an entire village 🙂
Gathoni & I testing the light just to make sure that everything is just right before the bride & groom check in…
Ken our driver, assistant, friend & our best man too. He is a wonderful gift from God to us!
Normally during the day portrait session, we divide forces, Gathoni handles the guys, while I shoot the girls. Saves time & ensures max creativity
There is a lot of running around during the wedding day…well, at least it keeps the pot-belly at bay 🙂
Gathoni caught this image of me, this was a lovely sunset engagement session we shot a while ago
Instead of shooting, we outchea taking pictures of ourselves!!!! Mscheeeewwwwww work guys, work!
It was getting pretty dark, so we had to pull outs the lights…
We had to stand/squat amidst the tea brush and had to act all ‘professional’ despite our avid fear of snakes & creepy crawlies!!!!
Us with our guns blazing….we shoot them, capture them, frame them then hang em on a wall 🙂
Gym portrait session…we have to keep our bride & groom fit you know 🙂
And what better way to end this looooong post, than will all this beauty 🙂 The cherry a top the muffin 🙂
That in a nutshell is a bit of the back-story. Hopefully, we will be telling more & more of this, so that you can get an idea of what happens when documenting a wedding. We have started doing videos too & hopefully will share them later on if our good Lord wills.
We are so grateful to get to share a snippet of our lives through this blog…we give all glory to God & are ever so humbled to be used of him in any kind of way.
Loads of Love, kisses & Blessings,
