About 2-3 weeks ago, my photographer buddy, Amunga, sent me an inbox & told me that he was getting married! I was super-surprised….this was great news…I had known Amunga for quite a while & had bumped into him many times in the CBD. Amunga was getting married to his long time beau Sharon. The wedding was to be in South Coast & he wanted Faith & I to attend as guests. I was both thrilled & terrified at the notion of me attending a wedding as one of the guests 🙂
So, this past weekend Faith & I traveled down to the Coast for this beautiful but simple wedding. I was at a loss, I just carried my camera along to avoid the awkwardness of not knowing what to do with my hands :). It was really different viewing the wedding from a guest perspective and accepting the fact that I will not be able to get amazing shots out of this beautiful wedding. Amunga & Sharon had our dream wedding. It was so simple, they did an African themed wedding with about 100 guests with the beautiful ocean as a backdrop. And yes, it was one of the largest photographers’ gathering I have ever been to…albeit, they were all feeling as awkward as we were attending as guests…here is a brief snippet of what I was able to capture…
Wedding Location :: Word Of Life, Ukunda
Bridal Gown :: Ihsani Culture
Cinematography :: Jemedari Media
Official Photographer :: Gathoni Kinyanjui
The view that met us was breath-taking! Amunga & Sharon with the help of their photography buddies had done the entire ceremony layout. We sat on beautiful hand made pillows on the ground over-looking the beautiful ocean
Faith & I here with our wonderful friend Janet, who is also getting married later on in their year, also one wedding we cannot wait to shoot
Yep those were the pillows I told you about
Amunga the groom strolls in, camera in hand and doning a pair of super-cool flip flops! getting married like a boss!
The ladies usher Sharon in with song & dance…her gown! now that is one of the most amazing gowns I have ever seen…Ihsani Culture did a remarkable job on it!
Sharon is walked down the isle with her daddy!
Hahahahaha! Amunga was there taking photos of his bride walking down the isle! Once a photographer, always a photographer 🙂
The bare-back & the henna body art on her back! Now this is getting married in style!
Did I tell you about this wedding dress…oh yes, I think I did 🙂
Say yes to the dress!!
We was all there photographing, with whatever device we had at hand
Aaaaaahhhh…the view was totally to live for 🙂
A lot of tears were shed throughout the beautiful ceremony
The way Amunga said those vows had all of us sniffing! So so deep & passionate. Every word was special & only the two of them knew how far our good Lord had brought them
Amunga is the clown, what!!!! He had us all in stitches all through
Aaaaaaawwwwwww! Special moment between the two lovebirds
🙂 You may now KISS your bride 🙂 Amunga…hahahahaha!
And to the KISS of the decade!!
Gathoni Kinyanjui (Seen photographing above) Was the official photographer of the day. It was lovely for Faith & I to finally meet her personally, we are personal fans of her work. Check out her blog here.
Sharon looked absolutely gorge! that headpiece!!!!!
Their Africanised attires looked really good on them
Songbird Haimie serenaded us all 🙂 with her beautiful voice during the certificate signing
Always important to have pockets, you never know where important documents go 🙂
They did a special ‘bead ceremony’ was a good departure from the over-done sand ceremony! beside we were already at a beach…the sand would be over doing it 🙂
It was wonderful to see Mr & Mrs Amunga Eshuchi sit on the pillows together with the rest of us…such special people!
After the short ceremony it was time for the fun recession, and the song to exit to………
You’re a genius!!!!…yep it was the one & only GANGNAM STYLE!!!
Fun, fun, fun!!!
These were the only members of the bridal party, and they looked gorgeous!
A side profile to all Amunga & Sharon’s buddys & a truckload of clicking photographers 🙂
The Kiruthi’s & the Matheka’s :); Faith, Me, Mutua Matheka & Noni his beautiful wife. Funny both Faith & Noni have locks!

And the photo-bombing started…Kanyingi & Katts of Jemedari, Me, Faith & Allan Gichigi…Joe & Noni crushed this shot 🙂
Aaaah such wonderful times we had with this talented lot of photographers & videographers…we had so much fun.
Afterwards was the reception & I guess Faith & I have never danced so much as we did at the evening reception. Unfortunately, I put down my camera soon after this & put on my dancing shoes…though once Gathoni is done with the images I will be happy to share some of the reception images with you guys…
Otherwise, thanks for dropping by…do have a blessed day, won’t you!
