Faith & I headed to Mombasa for this amazing shoot. Juliet & Martin really spoilt us on the day, with loads & loads of good food. We started off at the resort they were staying, The Voyager, then in the afternoon headed to Old Mombasa for some portraits…we finished off in the evening at the beach though we got caught up in a storm & got soaked to the skin, camera, lights & all 🙂
I would recommend a Trash the dress shoot for every bride. Usually a trash the dress is best done after the wedding, a preferred location would be a resort that you guys are staying in. If you are honeymooning at a location where your photographer can come to, then that would be a great idea to have it there.
Also something I learnt from Juliet & Martin, is to have your gown & your hubby’s suite/tux dry~cleaned so that they can be spick & span for the day. It’s always good to get an extra day to take photos when you are more relaxed & also you get a chance to do more crazier images…well, that’s enough for now 🙂
Location :: Voyager Beach Resort & Old Mombasa Town
Lighting & Grips :: Faith
Mombasa has now become my go to location. Mombasa is beautiful, I guess when God created the Coast he had a photographer in mind 🙂
There was a pond right at the resort entrance. It was drizzling though…but we decided to start anyway & do the best we could
We decided to go all high fashion on Juliet 🙂 she nailed it better than most models 🙂
Next we hit the resort lobby, even though the partrons were staring at us, we got it on!
We found a canon lying somewhere randomly in the lobby, they rocked it out!!
I just adore black & whites, they capture the soul of the image…these are some of my all time favs
Next after the rain died down, we hit the outdoors and their lawn is Oh, so perfect!
These two are just too hot for life 🙂
Next I requested Martin & Juliet to dance, and dance they did. I loved the little Ballerina girl twirl
Now they were just making Faith & me want to get married ASAP 🙂
Not too old to play hide & seek now 🙂
Oh how sweet!
Never a complete shoot without a reflection shot
I loved the high vantage point shots
The whole balancing act on the rail was an interesting/risky affair, Martin was there though to ensure we had no unnecessary mishaps!
Wonderful smiles they do have
Oh this was on a roof top over looking the ocean that I loved so much..especially those painted stone jars
High fashion all the way!!
A pinch on the ear to help Martin focus 🙂
Marriage is fun!!!
Next we found some plush vegetation and did some Adam & Eve themed photos
Next we grabbed some lunch at the diner. The Voyager have the widest array of buffet I have ever seen….we were all pretty sleepy afterwards 🙂
Next we got a tuk-tuk ride to the old town which was pretty fun!
The Old town, is too too perfect for photos. The guys from there were really friendly to us and let us shoot with absolutely no interruption, they just kept shouting that the bride ought not to walk & that Martin should carry her…pretty hilarious
The location was too too amazing
I would spend my life shooting in those narrow alleys
Old Mombasa was heated up!
That old scooter, oh and the matching helmet, completely did it for me!
The antique store owner, was kind enough to let us shoot at his entrance! And Juliet made it worth our while
The romantic proposal in Brasil, how romantic!
Yep, this is what an old Arabic town is all about…drop dead gorgeous locations
Next we decided to head back to the Voyager for some final look portraits since the skies were threatening to open on us…hop on to the tuk tuk & back to the resort
We found another gorgeous pond, we had Juliet lie near it, luckily she didn’t fall into the murky waters 🙂
And Martin was kind enough to complete the picture
Hahaha…welcome to day 1 of the marriage institution 🙂
After the work, came the reward 🙂
Martin briefed Juliet on the pool basics…
Yep Juliet is a fast learner, she was a pro in no time!
Afterwards we hit the beach, but the storm ruined everything and we had to botch that plan & hit the pool before all our gear stopped working
Can you see the rain? It was so cold & wet & were all in the pool & poor Faith trying to hold the light against the rain & wind
Despite it all, Martin & Juliet did amazingly well
Hahahaha…loved this shot a lot…Juliet & Martin are my kinda people, and they lived by my mantra, Anything for the shot!!!
Back in the room, we all had a hot shower & dried up, I loved the matching towels that Juliet & Martin had. It was a beautiful, beautiful day together & I thank them for being such wonderful sports…
Hope you loved the post…tell us what you think 🙂
God Bless you much!!!
