Today, I turn 31 years old. I have been so blessed to have had wonderful family & friends to share my wonderful 30 years here on God’s blessed earth. Glory be to God…He has been my faithful rock & support all these wonderful years in my life…As I look forward to what the 30s may hold…I took some time to reflect about some of the things I wish someone told me 10 years ago…well here goes…
1. God Is All You Need
In this life, many people will walk in & out of your life. Some will love you, most will leave you. The only thing that will be a constant in your life & journey here on earth; is the love of God. And Ben, when you get to the point that you have nothing but GOD!, then you will realise that God is all you need.
2. Your Parents Are Right!!!
I know right now, it seems like the folks are too old to understand what you are going through. Remember Dad & mum were once in their 20s too, and they survived it. So, listen to them, their advice may be old fashioned & many times look impossible, but Ben….LISTEN, they know what they are saying & they love you more than anything else in the world!!!!!
3. When You Know She’s the One….WIFE her!!!!!!!
Ben…he who finds a wife, finds a good thing & obtains favour from the LORD. Once God directs you to the one you will spend the rest of your life with, do not hesitate, fret, kid about, hide under commitment fears…et. al Be the wiser man & marry her…the sooner you do the better…Remember WIFE = FAVOUR 🙂
4. Learn To Serve & One Day You Will Lead
The best leaders in the world, were once the best servants. You cannot lead, if you do not know what it means to obey & serve…Even Jesus said….the greatest amongst you, must be the servant of all. If you serve well, one day you will lead!
5. Pray For Who You Will Marry
Ben, Marriage is for life. One day you meet someone special & you will spend the rest of your life with them. That person will become your life partner, mother of your children, your soulmate, campaigner, champion and you will wake up every day of your life by her side. The least you can do now, is ~~~> pray every day for this person, ask God to bring the right person to you & that your marriage will glorify & honour Him. Do it, & do it now
6. Your Value is Much More than Your Bank Account Balance
Do not think for one minute that money maketh the man!!!!! Nope, what makes you is what is inside you. Money will come & go, and if your worth is tied to your money; then you will have many dark days. Spend time in building your faith, intellect, manners, desire & all those things that will make you a better man. Forget the money…it will come one day, lots of it…let it find a man who is complete & comfortable in their own skin.
7. Smile The World Needs It!
Your smile will light up the world, Ben. Learn to smile, smile through the tears & through the joys. You will never be smartly dressed unless you put on that sunshine smile. You never know how many lives you light up when you smile. Ben, your smile lights up the world.
Every cent that falls into your hand in form of income, tithe, give a tenth of it to church, to be used for God’s ministry. Always remember the words of the bible,
‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.’ (Mal 3:10)
9. Listen To Your Heart
Ben, you know that small, still voice that’s always guiding & leading you? Yes…..remember? That is God’s little voice guiding you, directing you, showing you where you shall go. Listen to your heart, and you will always win. Every time you are lost, confused & feel like it’s not working out for you, then still, quieten yourself & listen. That small, still voice will guide you & lead you to where God wants you to be.
10. Don’t Just Save, But Save Towards A Goal
Never save without a goal, money always, always finds uses. Write down what it is you want to do, then put aside money for that specific use. Save towards a goal. It is called short time saving, that is the best way to be able to save money…never, ever let money lie idle…sooner or later it will find a good use
11. Save Yourself For That One Special One
All around you it seems like everyone is sleeping around. Virginity is for the weak & un-cool!!! Listen to me Ben, when you share yourself with other people, then you leave each of them with a piece of your soul. Remember that your body is the temple of the holy spirit. Guard your virginity & save it for that special one…there is nothing more precious than both of you (You & your yummy wife) discovering & enjoying your sexuality together as husband & wife.
12. Dream The Impossible
The world is yours for the taking Ben. Whatever it is that you desire, if you believe, you will achieve it. Your daddy, God, runs the world…so just think of it like this, God has given you a blank slate, whatever it is that you want, God will give you. So dream, Ben, dream….dream and dream the impossible..
13. Don’t Compare Yourself With Others
Ben, at every point in your life there will always be someone better than you & also someone worse off than you. Learn the secret of being content in plenty & in little. Every time you find your self comparing yourself with others, then sit down, count your blessings & thank God for all the goodness He has poured in your life…Ben, as long as you are growing & getting better by the day, you are on the right path.
14. Never Be Too Busy For God
Someday, God will bless you with a lot, your days will seem shorter, crazier & you will be always on the rush. Ben, fight for your time with God, remember the days when you had nothing, & were no one…always create time to pray, read your bible & go to church. Remember God can take it all away in a flash, then you will have no excuse that you are just too busy.
15. Read Books
The fastest way to wealth is to be an avid reader. Every book you will read, will add a tonne of wealth to you. If you can read at least one book a month, then I guarantee you that you will have a wholesome rich life, both in wealth, skill & knowledge
16. Humble Yourself
Ben, master this rule…make it your mantra, live by it & you will always be the best
‘Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you’ (1 Peter 5:6)
17. Don’t Kill Yourself Trying To Understand Women
Ben, you will always lose, trying to figure out women, or even what it is that they want. The truth is, they hardly even understand themselves 🙂 One thing you can do though….LOVE them. Someday, you will get married & you will never ever figure out your wife. Love her Ben, love her sacrificially, just as she is, with no conditions or restrictions, just love her & you will be the happiest man in the whole wide world.
18. Step Away From That Computer/TV
Don’t spend your life stuck in front of that screen. Switch off that TV/Computer & go out & enjoy life. There is a lot of life to live outside your screen, meet people, swim, take a walk, laugh, smile, laugh & share your life with REAL people 🙂
19. Be Yourself
God made you unique Ben, so do not try to fit in, it will never work. God put unique characteristics, behaviours, traits & mannerisms, that some will find very weird 🙂 Remember this, everything that you need to live & thrive~~~> God has put inside of you. So, do not afraid to be YOU! You can be the best version of you, never ever try to be a copy of anyone else. Remember this….. the world needs you, you will make a difference here, you will make this world a better place.
20. One Day You Will Be 30!
Believe it or not, in ten years time you will be 30! So, do not waste a minute of your 20s. This will be one of the most exciting periods in your life…you will laugh, cry, dance, fly, love, get heart broken and do everything else in between. So, enjoy this wonderful period in your life Ben, do not let anyone or anything hold you back from becoming all that God wants you to be. Remember, one day you will be 30…and your 20’s will be long gone……
